Elizabeth Rowan (RYT 200) is a formerly anxious, multiple BlackBerry-clutching executive who went all-in to lose the high heels, teach yoga full-time and drum up some health and inner peace. She received her 200 hour yoga teaching training certificate from Anahata Yoga, Hong Kong, in 2011 while studying under Yogananth Andiappan, son of Dr. Asana Andiappan of Chennai, India. She is also a certified Pranakriya prenatal yoga teacher and Radiant Child Yoga teacher, and contributor to MindBodyGreen and Asana Journal. Elizabeth currently teaches Jivamukti-inspired flow, prenatal and children's yoga in Savannah, Georgia, U.S. after spending the last several years in Hong Kong, and is a Jivamukti junkie as of late. Her dachshund Boudreaux gets really excited by the harmonium; the same cannot be said for her husband.
What to Expect
Jivamukti-inspired Flow: Jiva what? Yoga made accessible to all levels, set to cool beats and delivered with a dose of humanity and humor. Serious yoga, yes; yoga taken too seriously, no. Sweaty, serene, strong, generally stoked outlook on life is the desired result.
Prenatal: Moms-to-be who breathe, move, bond and relax their way through pregnancy and birth. Established yogis turned moms and moms turned enthusiastic yogis. Solutions to pregnancy symptoms and stress, a mom community, lotsa love while light on the blossoming lotus talk.
Children's: Kids armed with self-awareness, self-control, self-esteem who play well with others and bust out a meditation posture when under duress. Parents who don't believe it till they see it that their child can sit still in silence. Quotes like: "I like yoga because it calms my brain." and "Om makes me feel my own vibration." Whoa.
